When You Move, Hackney Moves

Brief: Rebrand the top half marathon in the UK, the Hackney Half, to give it back to the hands of the Hackney community and make it the pinnacle event of the running calendar.

Concept: With an average of 25,000 runners competing each year the Hackney Half is ranked as one of the top half marathons in the UK. Following a new partnership with Nike, we completely rebranded the event with a conceptual emphasis on the social and physical benefits of running together in groups. We wanted to use local talent to bring to life the festival and starting line so each year a new creative is chosen to create this

Creative: The logo represents multiple runners moving together on parallel paths while the oblique angle adds perspective to represent distance. The identity was applied across apparel, social, print, wayfinding and an ergonomic recovery area in collaboration with Samuel Ross. The event has been running each year since.

Fun Fact: I have seen the Hackney Moves t-shirt being worn by random people in over 8 countries. Every time I shout, HACKNEY MOVES!!!
